    Recorded for the movie “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid”.

    Ray Stevens was offered the first chance to record this song, but turned it down.

    B.J. Thomas was treated for laryngitis by his doctor the night before the recording sesssion and gave five raspy recordings. A few weeks later, healed, he sang the famous version.
