music news

Jason Noble of Rodan, Rachel’s, and Shipping News died of cancer Saturday, August 4, 2012, in Bethesda, Maryland, following a three year battel with cancer.
Jason Noble was a guitarist and the main vocalist in Rodan, a Louisville underground rock band. Rodan was influential on post-punk indie rock of the 1990s.
After Rodan disbanded in 1995, Jason Rodan co-founded Rachel’s, which featured viola, cello, piano, horns, drums/percusssion, guitar, and electric bass, but no vocals.
Jason Noble and Jeff Mueller (who also played guitar in Rodan) formed the band Shipping News.
Jason Noble was diagnosed with Synovial Sarcoma in 2009. Synovial Sarcoma is a rare form of cancer that attacks the soft tissues of the human body.
There were several benefits and compilation releases to help the family pay for the medical costs (the U.S. does not offer its citizens medical care, a government service available in every other industrialized nation of the world).
